Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, share, and protect your information.

Last updated: May 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how EstateProxy ("we", "us") handles personal information when you use the Service. We're committed to using your data only to operate, secure, and improve the marketplace.

1. Information we collect

Account info: name, email, password hash, role (buyer/scout), city, state, avatar, bio.

Transaction info: proxy requests, items, prices, shipping addresses, escrow events, payout account references, dispute records, meetup details.

Content: photos, messages, reviews, evidence you upload.

Device and usage: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, approximate location, cookies and similar technologies.

From partners: identity verification status from our KYC partner, charges/payouts/dispute outcomes from our payment processor, shipping tracking from carriers.

2. How we use information

  • Provide the Service: match buyers with Scouts, hold funds in escrow, process payouts, deliver messages.
  • Trust & safety: verify identities, detect fraud, investigate reports, enforce policies.
  • Communications: send transactional notifications, dispute updates, and (with your consent) marketing.
  • Improve the Service: aggregate analytics, debug issues, build features.
  • Legal: comply with tax (e.g., 1099 reporting), accounting, anti-money-laundering, and lawful requests.

3. Who we share with

Other users: your public profile (display name, city/state, photo, ratings) is visible to other users. Counterparties on a transaction see additional info needed to complete the job (e.g., shipping address, message history).

Authorities: when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect rights and safety.

Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the site, and measure usage. See our Cookie Policy for details and your choices.

5. Data retention

We keep account and transaction records as long as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal/tax obligations (typically up to 7 years for financial records). When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

6. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, and least-privilege practices. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account is compromised, contact security@estateproxy.com immediately.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., California, EU/EEA, UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. You can exercise most of these from your account settings or by emailing privacy@estateproxy.com.

California residents: see our CCPA disclosures below. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
