How can we help?

Answers for buyers, Pals, and estate companies.

Getting started

Sign up, set up your profile, and find your way around.

  • How do I create an account?
Click Sign in in the top right, then switch to Create account. Enter your email, set a password, and confirm it. We'll send a verification link to your inbox — click it to activate your account, then sign in.
  • Do I need to verify my email?
Yes. After signup we email a verification link. Until you click it, you won't be able to sign in. Didn't get it? Check spam or use forgot password to trigger a fresh email.
  • What's the difference between a buyer and a Pal?
Buyers post proxy requests and pay through escrow. Pals attend the sales locally and earn fees + payouts. You can be both; toggle role in your settings.
  • How do I become a Pal?
Visit Become a Pal, finish the short profile, complete identity verification, and link a payout account.
  • Is there an app?
ProxyPals is a mobile-first web app — you can install it to your phone's home screen from your browser for a native feel.

For buyers

Hire a Pal, fund escrow, and approve items in real time.

  • How do I hire a Pal?
From Find Sales or Browse Pals, pick someone and click Request Pal. Describe what you want, set a budget, and fund escrow.
  • Can a Pal pick up an eBay win for me?
Yes. Signed-in users can open eBay Pickups from their dashboard to search Buy It Now and auction listings flagged local pickup only. Win the listing, then hire a Pal in the seller's area to collect the item and ship it to you.
  • How much should my budget be?
Set it slightly higher than your max — unused authorization is voided. Pals only spend up to the budget you authorize.
  • What's a 'target'?
A short description of what you'd buy if seen, e.g. "Tiffany sterling under $300" or "Hermès silk scarves, condition 8+".
  • How does item approval work?
While the Pal is at the sale, they photograph candidate items. You approve, decline, or counter-offer from your dashboard. Be responsive — sales move fast.
  • When am I charged?
Your card is authorized when you fund the request. You're only captured for what's actually purchased, plus the Pal's service fee, shipping, and taxes.

Search & distance

Geolocation, ZIP, the interactive map, and how distances are sorted.

  • How do you find sales and Pals near me?
The distance filter uses three signals in this order: your browser geolocation (if you allow it), the ZIP code you enter, or a pin you drop on the interactive map. Whichever one you set last wins.
  • Can I sort by distance?
Yes. Once a location is set, results on Find Sales and Browse Pals can be sorted by distance and show exact miles or kilometers per card.
  • Why don't I see a distance on a card?
Either the sale/Pal hasn't published a precise location, or you haven't shared one yourself. Set a ZIP or allow location access and refresh.
  • Can I switch between miles and kilometers?
Yes — your account's locale controls the unit. Change it in Settings → Profile.

Pal transport & vehicles

How Pals advertise their pickup capacity and what they can haul.

  • Do Pals offer pickup as well as shipping?
Many do. Pals who offer pickup show a Pickup & transport section on their profile with vehicle type, package count, weight, and volume limits.
  • What vehicle types are supported?
Sedan, SUV, truck, Tesla, van, hatchback, wagon, and "other". Pals can also note a specific model (e.g. "Model Y" or "F-150 long bed").
  • How do I find a Pal who can move large furniture?
Filter Pals by minimum package count, weight (lbs), or volume (cu ft). Most furniture jobs need 80+ lbs of capacity and a truck or van.
  • Can I ask a Pal to make multiple stops?
Yes — message them before hiring. Multi-stop pickups may carry a small additional fee that the Pal will quote.

Virtual cards & receipts

How Pals pay at the sale and how receipts are verified.

  • How does a Pal pay for my items at the sale?
Each Pal has a permanent virtual card. When a job starts, our system unfreezes it and scopes its spending limit to your escrow balance — so the card can only spend what you authorized, only during your job's window.
  • When does the virtual card activate?
15 minutes before the sale start time, when the Pal taps "I'm here" and we verify geolocation at the sale, or when they manually unlock it from the dashboard during the job window.
  • What happens after the Pal pays?
The card is frozen immediately. The Pal uploads the receipt; our AI extracts the total and compares it against the actual charge. If they match within $1 (or 2%), the receipt is auto-verified.
  • What if the receipt total doesn't match?
It's flagged for admin review. You'll see "Receipt under review" on the job; we usually resolve within one business day.
  • Where are receipts stored?
In a private, encrypted bucket. Only you, the Pal, and our trust team can view them.

Payments & escrow

How money flows, when refunds happen, and what fees look like.

  • How does escrow work?
Your payment is held by our payment partner until items are delivered and the inspection window closes. Read Refund & Escrow Policy for details.
  • What fees does ProxyPals charge?
A marketplace fee plus the Pal's posted service fee or tier price. Everything is shown before you confirm.
  • Can I tip my Pal?
Yes — there's a tip option on completed requests. Tips go 100% to the Pal, minus payment processing.

Refunds

When refunds happen, how to find them, and what to do next.

  • When do refunds happen?
Unused escrow refunds automatically after the inspection window closes. You'll also see refunds when a Pal can't find any of your items, or when a dispute is resolved in your favor.
  • Why did I just see a refund popup?
We detect refunds two ways: a webhook from our payment partner, and a check when you return to the site. If a refund was processed while you were away, we surface a modal so you don't miss it.
  • What can I do from the refund modal?
View the receipt and refund details, re-book or re-purchase, dismiss the notification, or contact support if something looks off.
  • How do I get a refund I didn't receive automatically?
Open a dispute on the request within 48 hours of delivery and attach photos. We respond within 1 business day.
  • How long do refunds take to appear on my card?
Most card networks post in 3–5 business days. The refund shows in your ProxyPals activity immediately.

Shipping & pickup

Carriers, meetups, and what to do if something arrives damaged.

  • Who arranges shipping?
Pals buy a label through our integrated shipping tool. You see the carrier, tracking number, and ETA in your order timeline.
  • Can I meet the Pal in person?
Yes — Pals within a short distance can propose a meetup from the request. Choose a public, safe place; read our meetup safety tips.
  • What if the package is lost?
We file the carrier claim and make you whole. Open a dispute and we'll take it from there.
  • Can items be picked up directly from the sale?
Sometimes — depends on the estate company's rules and the Pal's logistics. Propose a meetup at the sale location.

For Pals

Get verified, claim jobs, and manage payouts.

  • How do I get paid?
Payouts are released after the 48-hour inspection window closes without an open dispute. Connect a payout account in your dashboard.
  • How do I set up my virtual card?
From your Pal dashboard, complete the one-time card setup. We'll issue your permanent card; it stays frozen except during active jobs.
  • How do I list my vehicle and pickup capacity?
In your Pal dashboard, open the Pickup & transport panel. Pick a vehicle type (sedan, SUV, truck, Tesla, etc.), set max packages/weight/volume, and add notes. This shows on your public profile and helps buyers pick the right Pal for the job.
  • What if I can't find any of the requested items?
Send a quick note and a few photos of what was at the sale. Mark the request "no items found" — your service fee may still apply per tier.
  • How are taxes handled?
You'll receive a 1099-K from our payment partner if you exceed the federal threshold ($600 by default). Export your annual earnings from Earnings & Taxes.
  • How do badges work?
Badges like "Top Pal", "5-Star Streak", and "Dispute-Free" are computed from your real activity — reviews, completed jobs, disputes, and meetups. They appear on your profile automatically.

Disputes & safety

Reporting, blocking, evidence, and the dispute process.

  • How do I open a dispute?
Go to the request, click Open dispute, choose the affected item, and upload clear photos. The Pal has 48 hours to respond.
  • How do I report a Pal or buyer?
Use the safety menu (the "⋯" icon) on a profile, chat, or request. Choose a reason and add details. Reports go to our trust team.
  • What happens when I block someone?
They can't message you and can't claim your future requests. Both sides stop seeing each other in matching. You can unblock anytime.
  • Is my address shared?
Only with the assigned Pal, and only for the specific request. We don't show full addresses on public pages.
  • I think I was scammed — what do I do?
Open a dispute first. If you can't, email trust@proxypals.com with your request ID and photos.

Account & settings

Profile, notifications, blocks, deletion, and security.

  • How do I change my email or password?
Settings → Account. You'll receive a confirmation email before changes take effect. To reset a forgotten password, use Forgot password.
  • How do I set my time zone?
Open Settings → Profile and pick your time zone from the dropdown.
  • How do I change the site language?
Use the language switcher in the header (globe icon). We currently support English, Spanish, and French.
  • How do I manage notifications?
Settings → Notifications. You can mute marketing while keeping critical transaction alerts on.
  • How do I see who I've blocked?
Settings → Safety → Blocked users. You can unblock from there.
  • How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account. Open transactions, payouts, and dispute windows must be resolved first.

For estate companies

List your sales, get more buyers, and verify your brand.

  • How do I list my company?
Visit For Estate Companies, create a company profile, and start posting sales. Verification gets you a trust badge.
  • Is there a cost?
Basic listings are free. Premium placements and lead routing have transparent rates — see Pricing.
  • How do I attract Pals?
Post early, include lots of photos, mark categories clearly, and link the sale to your company profile so Pals can preview before traveling.
